Abstract

Aziz Ahmad was one of the most prominent fiction writers and
literary critics, belonging to the 1930s generation of Urdu writers.
In early 1960s he became a fellow of the SAOS, London
University and later on moved to University of Toranto, Canada.
During his association with the British and Canadian universities
his main focus remained on Islam in the Indian sub-continent. His
studies in Islamic culture in the Indian environment are distinct
because of his creative insights as compared to the books written
on the same theme by Dr. Tara Chand, Dr. Ishtiaq Hussain
Qureshi and S.M. Ikram. His creative narrative starts from the
advent of Islam in the Indian sub-continent to the emergence of
Pakistan in 1947 as a natural outcome of socio-political history of
the sub-continent.
