Abstract

This  paper aims  to highlight the  importance and  understanding of quality assessment in terms of Quality Assurance Agency Standards of HEC for any program of higher education in universities of Pakistan.  It is an  apparent fact  that  higher education in Pakistan is facing  a  lot of problems  and  challenges but  the  most  serious  issue  is  "Quality". Therefore HEC  is striving hard to improve and  maintain the quality in academic programs of higher education.For this purpose HEC has been taken different steps such as establishment of Quality  Enhancement cell, use of Turnitin "for honest academic writing" and  self-assessment reports of ongoing  universities academic programs. As a member of QEC,  I have  an  observation that  for assessment  of  program and  implantation of HEC  policy  successfully,  once we have to convey simple and clear message and  purpose of "self-assessment of programs and  report writing". So faculty  can understand "what to do" and  "how to do". Hence,  this paper is an effort  for faculty  and students to recognize  how  to  assess  the  quality as  per HEC  policy  and  what  are  the reasons  to develop  SAR report. What  are  the  ways  and  procedure of this SAR  report?  What  are  the  steps  of SARs  report  writing? How  to  make  decision  and  future planning. It is expected  that with the help of this simple Urdu language article mostly faculty  and students can understand SAR and  its process in universities well.
