Amongst them, most of the newspapers and magazines had government patronage. Actually, in the very lap of journalism, academic and literary prose blossomed and flourished. Alongside casual news, the beginning of essay writing, episode wise novels, critical writing, translations, column writing and comic writing owe a lot to magazines and newspapers.
