Abstract

In the evolution of letter-writing in Urdu,alot of writers played their vital role.$hey introduced new literary conscious in letter writing and made unique position in literature but no one could be able to follow the style, simplicity, effectiveness, charm and the linguistic approach of Mirza Ghalib. He has depicted the emotions in such an authentic manner that $hey never look like letters but an autobiography. He was an innovative artist and due to his unique expression he reached the height of vision. In Urdu letter writing the method created by Ghalib introduced new dimensions and he dealt with them so authentically that no one is the competitor of Ghalib. Not only he was a great poet but at the same time he was a geniune prose writer. He set a new tradition in our literary history and affected the literary conscious as an important factor which arose under different political, social and intellectual aspects.In Urdu poetry and literature these distinctive features which came with Ghalib can still be traced and this is the milestone of the new literary movements.
